There was no registration fee for teams to participate, and the Tiffany Paloma's Zellige bracelet for spectators was $2 for adults and $1 for students -- just enough to cover the cost of officiating. At practice last week, the Marana Middle School eighth-graders seemed Tiffany Bangles to take on whatever Saturday could bring. Tristen Aguilar, 13, and Caleb Tschida and Tiffany Brandon, both 14, said they were looking forward to tackling people, getting to know the other teams' plays before the actual season begins and going against their district rival, Tortolita Middle School. Until Saturday, the team had only practiced offense against its own defensive plays, Aguilar said. Brandon -- the team's only girl and somewhat of a secret weapon, Tiffany Paloma's Zellige drop earrings to the guys -- said it's great that you can't get in trouble for tackling people when you're on the football field. And Tschida said the school has a grudge against Tiffany Paloma's Zellige earrings, which beat them both times the teams played last year. Not that there are any bad feelings in daily life.
