Elsa Peretti Bean ever-changing program

Eran Chen, the architect hired by Brack Capital Real Estate to design the Frank Gehry, says he tried to give the building a contemporary look that embraces the history of Union Square. "The ever-changing program of buildings being converted from commercial to residential is part of Elsa Peretti Bean necklace character of the city. Embracing it by not necessarily preserving a new building, but by embracing it to create something new, I think that's the merit of this project." As if preserving them in amber, Mr. Chen encased the original cast-iron arches of the L-shaped building in walls of glass framed in black anodized aluminum. Depending on the time of day and correlating reflectiveness of the glass, the arches are visible from the neighboring square. Elsa Peretti Bottle pendant building, which fronts both Union Square West and 15th Street, tops out with a jigsaw of shifting and interlocking masses, as though the building is evaporating into the sky. Elsa Peretti Butterfly Earrings new design represents the second time the building has emerged from a redesign with a completely new personality reflecting the aesthetics of the times.
